The Patriots took advantage of TCU’s first error in the game to score two unearned runs in the fifth. With two on and nobody out, a throwing error allowed both runners to score. Jake Eissler (3-4) stranded the runner at third, retiring three in a row to get out of the inning.

Two more, two-out runs scored for the Patriots in the sixth as their lead grew to five, 6-1. Three straight singles accounted for the runs.

The Frogs climbed back into the game with two runs in their half of the sixth. Alex Isola walked and moved to third on a Johnny Rizer base hit. Keefer lined a single to right center to drive in Isola. A two-out base knock from Oviedo pulled the Frogs within two, 5-3.

Another error proved costly as the Patriots put the game away with a trio of unearned runs in the seventh. They added a run in the ninth to account for the final score.

Jared Janczak started for the Frogs and allowed a run on five hits over three innings.

With the loss, TCU falls to 23-16 overall. The Horned Frogs conclude the homestand this weekend with a three game series against nationally-ranked Baylor. Friday’s series opener is set for 6:30 p.m.
