The Dallas Cowboys drafted Oklahoma Sooners defensive tackle Neville Gallimore with the 82nd overall pick in Round 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft Friday evening.
Gallimore earned second-team, All-Big 12 for Oklahoma in 2019. The 6-2, 304-pound defensive tackle will take over inside the defensive line for the Cowboys, who lost Maliek Collins in free agency to the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Welland, Ontario, Canada, native played football at Canada Prep Academy, and it is where he fell in love with the game.
“I love the game,” Gallimore told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February. “I played a lot of football back in Ottawa, but you always want to see how you rack up against better competition. I feel like for me, that showed me I know I’m pretty good and I can do this.
“Going against teams that had a lot of guys who were getting recruited as well, that showed that I could compete and still dominate. That really gave me the courage that it was time to move forward.”
The Cowboys have no more picks for day two. They will get back in action during day three with a fourth round selection followed by two fifth-round picks and a seventh-rounder to finish their draft class.
