CLARKSVILLE — Linden-Kildare came up short against Clarksville in the battle of the Tiger teams as the home side prevailed 24-14 Friday night at New Century Club Stadium.
Quay Scales had a goal line sneak for Clarksville, but a failed extra point limited their first blood to just 6-0. Scales finished the game with 92 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries.
Nate Holloway led all rushers for Linden-Kildare with 17 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Mason Johnson completed seven passes on 14 attempts for 111 yards, a touchdown, and an interception along with rushing 12 times for 32 yards.
Clarksville produced 25 first downs to L-K’s 16, and also out-gained the visiting Tigers 473 to 311. The turnover battle was even as the home Tigers picked off Linden-Kildare three times, but L-K managed to recover three fumbles.
Clarksville was 4-of-9 on third down while Linden-Kildare was 1-of-10. L-K converted 2-of-7 on fourth down compared to Clarksville’s 0-of-2.
Linden-Kildare falls to 0-2 on the season, but they have yet to play any district games. The Tigers go to De Kalb on Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Bear Stadium.
