ATLANTA, Texas — The Atlanta Rabbits boys and girls varsity basketball teams had a fitting sendoff for their seniors as they swept the Redwater Dragons on Friday night at the Briar Patch.
The Rabbs beat the Dragons 87-25 while the Lady Rabbs also outlasted the Lady Dragons 83-35.
In the boys’ game, Cameron Dickison produced 11 points for the Rabbs while Keyshawn Easter had 10. Durante Neal produced nine points with all of them coming in the second half, and aided by his 5-of-6 free throw shooting.
Caleb Hamilton added six points for Atlanta, and Alex Boston produced seven points. J.J. Fields tallied eight points for the Rabbits.
Dalton Robertson was the leading scorer for the Dragons with nine points. Silas Cowgil collected six points, while Landon McLeod, Drew Graves, Luke and Jack Huckabee all scored two points apiece.
Atlanta outscored Redwater 13-2 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Rabbs truly produced distance between themselves and the Dragons with a 36-9 halftime lead. Atlanta led 71-23 at the end of the third quarter, and then put on the governor with a 16-2 fourth quarter score to produce the game’s 87-25 final tally.
Hunter Allen was the player of the game for the Rabbs, who travel to De Kalb to take on the Bears on Feb. 11. The Rabbits are 26-4 overall and own first place in their district with a perfect 10-0 mark.
Lady Rabbs calm Redwater
The Lady Rabbits took care of Redwater 83-35 in the girls’ varsity game. Senior Keona Easter, who has been averaging 30 points a game this season, was the player of the game with 21 points.
