ATLANTA, Texas — The Atlanta Rabbits varsity boys basketball team overran the Redwater Dragons 66-54 Tuesday night.
For the Rabbs, the win helped them achieve their fourth straight district championship. Atlanta also has a four-year record of 100 wins and 27 losses.
Alex Boston had a dominant evening with 28 points, including three 3-pointers. Braylyn Rowe and Aidan Boston each had 11 points. Ken Washington provided nine points. Andrew Boston produced six points. Caleb King had one point.
“Great win for us in a tough place to win in Redwater,” coach Jarrod Boston said. “We battled throughout the game — down two starters with injuries, we had some kids really step up. Ken Washington has really been playing well and Andrew Boston stepped into a starting role and hit two big 3’s for us.
“On top of that, we got a really strong performance from Alex Boston who scored 28 points and freshmen Braylyn Rowe and Aidan Boston. Total team effort last night. Proud for the team. That was win No. 20 of the year and it’s always a good season when you can win 20.”
For the Dragons, Drew Graves led the way with 15 points. Reilly Orlando scored 13 points for Redwater. Cole Turner generated 12 points.
The Rabbs go on the road to play the Hooks Hornets at Liberty-Eylau at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday for a seeding game. The Hornets edged the New Boston Lions on Tuesday night 55-53 to win a share of the district title with an 11-1 record.
