Atlanta bests White Oak 6-2 in Marshall

MARSHALL, Texas — The Atlanta Rabbits took care of White Oak Roughnecks 6-2 in the area playoffs.

The Superior Realty Players of the Game were Kelby Smith and Jackson Warren.

A-Jim’s Dirtiest Player of the Game was Cooper McClure, who got on base 3-of-4 at bats and also had decent fielding on the artificial turf.

Smith got the lid off for the Rabbs with a hit in the top of the fifth right over the shortstop that scored two runs for Atlanta. Smith also had a hit in centerfield later in the game that helped keep the momentum going for Atlanta.

Warren went 7.0 innings on the mound and had eight strikeouts against a tough White Oak lineup. Warren seemed to get stronger as the game went along.

“I started off unsteady, but as the game progressed, I started feeling steadier,” Warren said. “Whenever Kelby got those two hits, it just put something in me and gave me the energy to dish it out with the rest.”

Coach Dave Hooten says he was proud of the effort from the Rabbs.

“I couldn’t tell you enough about their will to win and to find a way,” Hooten said. “Jackson on the mound and just keeping us right there.”

The Rabbs complete the series with the Roughnecks Thursday on KPYN with pregame at 4:50 p.m. If the Roughnecks win, game three will be played immediately after game two.
