COLLEGE STATION — The No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies shutout the No. 2 Vanderbilt Commodores 7-0 at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park Sunday to win their first Southeastern Conference series of 2019.

Fresh off a walk-off hit from Saturday night, Jonathan Ducoff drove in four RBI as part of a 2-of-4 effort with a double. Ty Coleman produced 3-of-4 with two runs and a RBI while Braden Shewmake was 2-of-5 with two runs, a triple, and a RBI. Cam Blake had two hits as the Maroon and White had 11 on the afternoon.

“We just talked about it, in the circle at the end, about the last 15 innings of this series,” said Ducoff. “We were on the ball. We were taking good swings and made things happen. We are looking forward to putting together some more of those as we go forward.”

The pitching tandem of Christian Roa and Bryce Miller allowed just four Vandy hits and two walks. Roa scattered three hits and two walks while striking out seven over 7.0 innings. Miller retired six of the seven batters he faced along with three strikeouts.

“He had a four-pitch mix going for him from the start, and it certainly slowed down their bats down a bit,” said Aggies coach Rob Childress about Roa. “Obviously, Vanderbilt’s one through nine batters has a very special offense, and for him to be the guy, out of the weekend, to have the best start by a long shot. It says a lot about his performance.”

Texas A&M is 17-5 on the year with a 2-1 mark in the SEC. The Aggies take on the Rice Owls Tuesday with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. The game will air on the SEC Network.
