Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Suspected Hit-and-run in East San Jose

A man was struck and killed Wednesday night while crossing a street in East San Jose in what authorities believe was a hit-and-run.

Officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian at King Road and Salamoni Court around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, according to police.

A guy driving a 2012 Dodge Caravan southbound on King Road north of Salamoni struck the pedestrian, who was crossing westbound on King outside of an authorized crosswalk, according to police. The person was transferred to a hospital and eventually died.

The motorist fled the scene, but cops apprehended him shortly thereafter and arrested him, according to police.

This was the 43rd traffic death and 16th pedestrian death in San Jose this year. The victim was unidentified.
