Riverside Man Arrested After Roommate’s Body Found Buried in Backyard Grave

A Riverside man was arrested after his roommate’s body was discovered buried in a makeshift grave in their backyard, according to authorities.

Officers rushed to the 8700 block of Sylvan Drive on Tuesday evening after receiving reports that 31-year-old Bradley Minder had not been seen or heard from in several days, according to a Riverside Police Department statement.

During their inquiry, authorities discovered that one of the occupants had lately made allegations claiming to have slain his roommate, officials said.

Detectives inspected the house and discovered what seemed to be a crime scene in the back yard.

Investigators from the department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit were dispatched to the home, along with forensic specialists and cadaver dogs.

According to authorities, the dogs alerted them to a spot in the backyard where they discovered human remains. The victim was eventually identified as Minder.

Detectives then arrested and jailed his roommate, 48-year-old Richard Thomas Martinez, for murder.

Detectives suspect the two men got into a fight, which led to Martinez killing Minder. Police did not provide any information about what prompted the altercation between the two males or how Minder was killed.
