Authorities reported that a California man drugged and raped nine women, one of whom passed away due to an overdose.
In connection with the case, Michel DiGiorgio, 50, is currently facing a variety of sexual-based accusations, including one count of murder, three counts of rape by drug use, and a host of other charges. The allegations were disclosed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Friday.
The sexual assaults are believed to have occurred at residences in Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach between 2019 and 2021, according to investigators in California.
It is unclear how DiGiorgio met or knew the victims, despite the fact that he possessed the homes.
Additionally, investigators did not provide an explanation for the delay in apprehending DiGiorgio in connection with the case, which occurred two years following the assault. He is accused of administering narcotics to a woman and sexually assaulting her prior to her overdose on July 6, 2020. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed.
DiGiorgio is currently being detained in prison without being granted bail. DiGiorgio is at risk of life imprisonment if he is found guilty.
Investigators say they are confident that there are additional victims and have requested that anyone with information contact the police.
District Attorney George Gascón issued a statement in which he expressed his profoundest sympathies for the victims, whose lives have been irrevocably altered and the life that has been lost as a result of the alleged barbaric acts of the offender. “Our office is dedicated to ensuring that he is held accountable for the pain and trauma he has caused.”
Our foremost concern is the safety and welfare of our community, and we will not tolerate any form of predatory conduct within our communities. I urge anyone who has information about these incidents or any other incidents involving Mr. DiGiorgio to report it to the Redondo Beach Police Department.
