Police Seek Suspect in Shocking Assault at Downtown Oklahoma City 7-eleven Involving Infant

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City Police are looking for a suspect in an assault that occurred at a convenience shop downtown. The assault occurred on September 20 at the 7-Eleven on West Reno Avenue.

Police revealed security video of the confrontation, which shows a woman walking into the store cradling a baby. There is no audio in the footage, but police say the woman was ranting and cursing at the clerk because the gas pump was not working.

Another woman seen standing in line encouraged the suspect to be respectful of the worker.

In the footage, you can see the suspect place her infant on the ground before picking up a plastic shopping basket and hitting the victim in the head repeatedly.

“You see things every day in this job that can surprise you when somebody’s just holding a baby and setting the baby down to grab a handheld shopping basket and strike somebody in the head with it, you don’t see that every day,” said MSgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

In the video, you can also see the store’s assistant manager, who is named as a witness in the report, picking up the child off the ground to bring her out of harm’s way.

The woman eventually collects her infant, exits, and drives away in a dark-colored SUV. “The victim was not seriously injured, but this was an unprovoked attack and this is something that we’re going to investigate and we want to get this person identified,” said Staff Sergeant Knight.

The victim informed authorities that she wanted to file charges.

If you know who the suspect is, an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers might result in a monetary reward.
