Storm System Expected Saturday: Freezing Rain and Icy Roads Likely in Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa

There is a storm system that is expected to arrive on Saturday. Unexpectedly, and even though we will continue to see cold weather throughout Thursday, there will not be as much cold air present for that storm system as it moves through the region.

At the same time as a storm system is bringing in more humid and warm air from the south, cold, arctic air will be moving into the east between Friday night and Saturday early.

This system is expected to deliver freezing rain, sleet, and a little snow on Saturday, with temperatures ranging from the high 20s to the lower 30s.

There is a possibility that icy conditions could be present in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa on Saturday. Although this storm system is not expected to be particularly severe, it will be sufficient to achieve this goal.

Central Iowa may be hit with a significantly more severe dosage of freezing rain than we are.
