After a cool day, we return to the freezer overnight, with lows ranging from the teens to the twenties. The wind chill at the bus stop will be below zero early Friday morning.
We then work off the chill in the afternoon under a sunny sky and a more southerly wind. Friday’s high temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s, with a few 60s near the Colorado state line. Warm winds are expected this weekend. Highs prefer the 1950s, with a few 60s tossed in for good measure.
Upper-level cloud cover will pass to our southeast, indicating a wet system that will mainly escape our viewing area. However, a few rain showers may try to sneak in on Sunday before being pushed to the east by the next cold front.
Early next week, temperatures will plunge into the 40s. There is some moisture to deal with on Monday and Tuesday for a few rain to snow showers. Western Kansas will provide the best opportunities to observe anything light. This should not be heavy or impacting early next week.
Temperatures will slowly rise to the 40s and 50s. Watch out for a considerably more dynamic pattern from December 15 to 22. If current patterns continue, we may track many storm systems capable of rain or snowfall.
