A 16-year-old boy died in Tennessee after colliding with a black bear while driving on Saturday night, Nov. 23, according to several publications.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, WVLT, WATE, and WBIR reported that the boy, whose identity was not published, was driving in Campbell County in the state’s northeast at roughly 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.
According to reports, a black bear walked out into the road in front of the boy’s truck, and investigators believe he was unable to move out of the path. The accident occurred on Stinking Creek Road, which is located in a remote hilly area near the Kentucky border.
WATE said that the bear was struck by the pickup truck’s front bumper, causing it to come to an “uncontrolled final rest out of the roadway.”
The passenger, another 16-year-old lad, was hurt in the crash.
According to WATE, the motorist was not wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred.
