Echo Show 21 Introduced at $400: Wall-mountable, Fire TV-ready, and Smart Home Hub Included

Amazon recently released the Echo Show 21, a huge smart display with a slew of features. As the name implies, this smartphone has a 21-inch display. It’s also wall-mountable, just like the previous Echo Show 15.

The monitor has a 1080p resolution, which won’t win any prizes, but the audio quality appears to be significantly improved over prior generations. The Echo Show 21 should be capable of “delivering immersive sound, double the bass and room adaption technology.”

The camera has been updated, with “more than double the field of view and 65% more zoom than the first-generation Echo Show 15.” It also appears that the auto-framing algorithm has been improved. This device might be a beast for video calls, as it now includes enhanced methods for reducing annoying ambient noise.

There is an integrated smart home hub that supports Wi-Fi 6E, Thread, Zigbee, and Matter control. According to the business, the device should be able to modify local settings such as lighting, switches, and plugs. This function initially appeared in the Echo Hub, which was unveiled last year.

The panel can function as a Fire TV, which is nothing new and is compatible with Amazon’s Fire TV remote. However, the Echo Show 21 comes with the Alexa Voice Remote and wall-mounting hardware. The countertop stand is offered separately. The smart display costs $400 and is available today.

The Echo Show 15 has also been updated for individuals with limited wall or countertop space. The new model includes all of the features listed above but in a smaller form factor. This one costs $300 and is available right now.

The Show 8 is also an excellent option if you want a smart display that is ideal for video calls. Not only does the 13-megapixel camera produce excellent image quality, but Amazon has also integrated a technology that automatically frames your face and tracks your motions.

As you can expect, it’s a convenient tool to have if you want to walk around while conversing with your friends and loved ones.

When you’re not using the Show 8, the actual camera cover protects your privacy. I should also remark that the Show 8 is one of the better-sounding smart screens Engadget has tested, thanks to its spatial audio and room calibration feature.

The Echo Show 5 is an excellent choice if you have limited space on your desk or bedside. It is currently among the tiniest smart screens on the market.

The addition of an ambient light sensor and tap-to-snooze functionality makes for an excellent smart alarm clock. It can also be used as a sunrise clock if you don’t want to be woken up too early.

In any case, both the Show 8 and Show 5 are excellent smart displays, especially at the current price.
