Monday: Expect a warm and pleasant day with temperatures reaching the mid-70s and plenty of sunshine. Clouds begin to return during the evening, ahead of our next cold front.
This Week: A cold front will pass over the area on Tuesday, bringing frequent showers from the morning to the evening. This won’t be a heavy, persistent downpour. Showers will be scattered, with coverage reducing in the evening as the front sweeps through. Rainfall in central Alabama will be mild, ranging from a quarter to a half inch.
Following the front, temperatures will quickly drop throughout the second half of the week. Breezy weather will develop on Wednesday and Thursday, accompanied by colder air.
Even with beautiful skies and sunlight, it will feel very chilly, with highs in the 50s on Thursday and Friday and morning lows in the mid to upper 30s. Patchy frost is expected on a few mornings throughout the second half of this week.
Tracking the Tropics: Tropical Depression Sara continues to weaken as it advances across the Yucatan Peninsula tonight, eventually entering the Gulf of Mexico on Monday as a weak low-pressure system. The remains of Sara will be drawn north into the Louisiana Gulf Coast and washed in front of the cold front, posing no serious threat to central Alabama.
