South Florida is expecting another warm day before our first substantial cold front comes.
Friday morning temperatures began slightly lower, but they will swiftly rise into the middle 80s by the afternoon. A cold front formed near Tampa on Friday morning and will move south through the Florida Peninsula throughout the day, arriving in South Florida by tonight evening.
Spotty showers will develop along the front as it moves north-south between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. A brief downpour is probable, but with a 20% chance of rain, some regions will stay dry as this front passes through.
Showers that begin in Broward will move south into Miami-Dade and eventually pass through the Keys in the evening. The majority of the rain in the weekend forecast will fall late Friday and early Saturday when the wind turns to the north, bringing in drier air that will keep the area rain-free for the remainder of the weekend.
The full moon on Friday will bring the king tides to their climax. Minor flooding will continue around the high tides for the remainder of the weekend, with the highest tides forecast Friday.
On Saturday, temperatures start cold, with lows in the upper 60s. Each afternoon, expect pleasant sunshine, highs just above 80 degrees, and low humidity.
Tropical Storm Sara continues to travel westward into Honduras, posing a concern of flash flooding and mudslides.
The storm is forecast to pass over the Yucatan Peninsula this weekend, but tropical moisture will continue to be drawn north into the Gulf of Mexico next week. Another cold front entering the area will draw on that moisture, increasing the likelihood of rain by next Wednesday.
