NORTH TEXAS – Thursday was a lovely day, with light winds and temperatures in the 70s. This trend, however, will not persist much longer, with significant adjustments expected in the coming week.
A repeat of Thursday is forecast on Friday, except for milder mornings and shifting winds from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph.
The lack of cloud cover and mild breezes will cause radiational cooling overnight. The warmth at the surface will result in temperatures as low as the 40s Friday morning.
The lack of clouds during the day on Friday will allow the afternoon to rise into the 70s once more. Saturday and Sunday’s highs will also be warmer.
The southeasterly breezes will allow Gulf moisture to increase across the area over the weekend. This will help feed strong to severe thunderstorms in the western counties on Sunday evening and throughout North Texas into Monday.
A powerful cold front will pass through, bringing scattered severe weather and widespread heavy rainfall, which will most certainly cause flooding in low-lying regions.
A secondary front is predicted to arrive on Wednesday, bringing major temperature drops.
The Pacific air will allow Wednesday’s highs to be in the 50s. Low temperatures on Thursday morning are forecast to be in the low 40s, with northern counties reaching the upper 30s. Stay tuned for the most recent updates.
