A teenage boy is fighting for his life in the ICU following an alleged hit-and-run in Texas.
On Nov. 3, the 16-year-old kid was riding his bike along East Louetta Road in Spring, Texas, a Houston suburb, when he was hit by a car heading in the same direction, according to a statement released by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on November 14.
“The impact caused the male juvenile to separate from the bicycle and land in the roadway,” according to the release.
The sheriff’s office stated that the motorist fled the scene in a white or gray sedan. They also stated that the case is still ongoing and that investigators are attempting to gather surveillance film from nearby businesses to help identify the make and model of the vehicle.
While authorities did not identify the child or provide information about his condition, his mother identified him as 16-year-old Devin Yelle, Fox 13 Houston reports. Tiffany Trusty, the boy’s mother, informed the site that her son is in the ICU, fighting for his life after suffering a catastrophic brain injury.
“That’s my baby, and you just left him on the side of the road like an animal,” Trusty told the alleged hit-and-run motorist, according to Fox 13.
In a message acquired by the source, the youngster, who is still able to talk, thanked the people for their well wishes and said, “Please catch the person who did this.”
