A cold front will move into Kentucky and surrounding areas, bringing widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms through midweek.
Rainfall is expected to begin late Monday night in southeastern Missouri, southwest Illinois, and sections of Kentucky and last until Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, showers will begin late Monday, with lows ranging from 60 to 68 degrees.
By Tuesday, rain and thunderstorms will intensify, hitting most of the region, with highs ranging from 68 in the west to 80 in the east. The storms might bring 1-1.5 inches of rain, especially in southern Illinois and western Kentucky.
The pattern will continue into Wednesday, with temperatures dropping to the 60s. By Thursday, temperatures are anticipated to drop to the mid-40s, with highs just reaching the 60s. The weather service warns folks to keep an eye out for unexpected storms and prepare for milder temperatures through the end of the week.
