A low-pressure system is expected to bring accumulating snow and frigid temperatures to Colorado late today through midday Monday, causing major delays in travel, particularly during the Monday morning commute.
Forecasters forecast 0.5 to 3 inches of snow in the Denver metro region, with higher elevations receiving moderate snowfall.
As the system approaches, snow showers have already started in western Colorado, with more coverage forecast by evening. The Denver area may see a quick flip from rain to snow late tonight, resulting in minor accumulations.
The foothills might see 3 to 8 inches of snow, while the Palmer Divide could get 2 to 4 inches. More considerable totals are expected in the northern Larimer Mountains and Winter Park, where up to 15 inches of snow could accumulate owing to increased upslope flow.
