Police announced Monday that eight persons, including two children, had been arrested in connection with gang-related violence in San Jose.
According to investigators, the suspects were apprehended between October 15 and 17, following an investigation into a series of violent offenses that began in November of the previous year. The charges included assault with a dangerous weapon, carjacking, robbery, and unlawful weapons possession.
“The preliminary investigations revealed these cases were gang-related or motivated, and not only targeted rival gang members but also community members in the Loma Verde and Cadillac/Winchester neighborhoods,” the cops said in a statement.
Detectives from the Gang Investigations Unit stated they had linked the crimes to a “known violent gang” and identified the perpetrators. Arrest and search warrants were also issued.
Detectives reported that while officers executed the warrants, they seized evidence, live ammo, and a fully automatic submachine gun.
The adult suspects are listed as 22 years old. Josue Castro, Jonathan Rodriguez (26), Daniel Romo (21), Luis Arizmendi-Bravo (20), Joe Maldonado (21), and Erick Curiel (19).
Police said the minor suspects are guys aged 16 and 17. Their names were not revealed due to their ages.
All eight of the suspects are San Jose citizens.
The adult suspects were detained at the Santa Clara County Jail, while the two teenagers were booked at the juvenile facility.
Anyone with information about the crimes is requested to contact the department’s Gang Investigation Unit at 408-277-3835.
