Man Charged With Murder After Woman Fatally Injured in NC Grocery Store Parking Lot: Police

A man is in custody in Rowan County after being charged with the murder of a lady.

According to the Salisbury Police Department, officers were dispatched to a parking lot at 2096 Statesville Blvd. at 6:48 p.m. on Wednesday. The parking lot is shared by Food Lion, Family Dollar, and a few more stores.

According to officials, when police arrived, they discovered a 57-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries sustained during an assault. Despite multiple attempts to save her life, the woman died in the parking lot.

The following day, at about 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, authorities searched an apartment on Clancy Street and allegedly discovered evidence tied to the homicide. This led to the arrest of 44-year-old Herman Donald Floyd III.

Floyd is currently being held without bond at the Rowan County Detention Center. The probe is still ongoing.
