Five former Texas A&M Aggies made Major League Baseball rosters on Opening Day Thursday.
The list boasts Atlanta Braves’ A.J. Minter, Cleveland Indians’ Tyler Naquin, Los Angeles Dodgers’ Ross Stripling, St. Louis Cardinals’ Michael Wacha, and Milwaukee Brewers’ Alex Wilson.
Minter begins his third season with the Braves. In 2018, Minter appeared in 65 games, posted a 0-1 record and 15 saves with a 3.23 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 61.1 innings.
Naquin starts his fourth year with Cleveland. Last season, he batted .264 with 22 runs, seven doubles, three home runs, six walks, and 23 RBI in 61 games.
Fresh off his first All-Star Game appearance, Stripling enters his fourth season with the Dodgers. The hurler appeared in 33 games, starting in 21 of them, and posting an 8-6 record with a 3.02 ERA and a career high 136 strikeouts in 122 frames.
Wacha is in his seventh season with the Redbirds. Last year, the former Pleasant Grove Hawk started in 15 games, recording an 8-2 record with a 3.20 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 84.1 innings. For his career, Wacha has a 53-32 record with a 3.77 ERA and 655 strikeouts in 741.0 innings.
Wilson begins his seventh year in the MLB with his first in Milwaukee. With the Detroit Tigers in 2018, Wilson made 59 appearances on the mound with a 2-4 record and a 3.36 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 61.2 innings.
