4 Arrested After 83-year-old Woman Assaulted and Robbed Outside NJ Supermarket

Police in New Jersey have arrested four people after an 83-year-old woman was attacked and robbed outside an Acme grocery in Somers Point, NJ, last week.

On Thursday, officials announced the arrest of four people ranging in age from 15 to 60 for their alleged involvement in an incident that injured an 83-year-old woman’s face and upper body.

According to police, the four arrested individuals are:

  • A fifteen-year-old boy from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. He’s been charged with robbery, aggravated violence, and theft, according to officials.
  • Maria DeSantis, 60, of Woodbine, New Jersey. DeSantis has been charged with conspiracy to conduct robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, using a child to commit a felony, and other felonies, according to officials.
  • Charles Ogelsby Jr., 23, of Atlantic City, New Jersey. According to officials, Ogelsby has been charged with conspiracy to conduct robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, using a child to commit a felony, and associated offenses.
  • Emily Labaco, 22, of Atlantic City, New Jersey. According to officials, Labaco faces charges of conspiracy to conduct robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, using a child to commit a felony, and other violations.

According to officials, all four individuals are in police custody.

According to authorities, the initial incident occurred on October 3 at approximately 10:50 a.m. at an Acme Supermarket on the 200 block of New Road in Somers Point.

Officials stated that on one occasion, a woman was accosted from behind by someone who snatched her purse.

The incident resulted in damage to the woman’s face and upper body. Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment for injuries sustained during the attack.

Following the event, police stated that they had “worked diligently around the clock to identify and arrest all those involved in this crime.”

Police said they conducted various search warrants at homes throughout the community, as well as in vehicles, in order to make these arrests.
