300,000 Passengers Expected on Washington Ferries – How to Navigate Thanksgiving Crowds

During the Thanksgiving holiday, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) anticipates that nearly 300,000 people will board state ferries. As a result, travelers should be prepared for lengthy lines and longer wait times.

Before heading to the terminal, the Washington State Department of Transportation strongly recommends that passengers try downloading its mobile app or checking the website of the Washington State Ferry for real-time information.

According to projections, the peak travel will occur on November 27-28 for westbound travels toward islands and on November 29-30 for eastbound returns.

By choosing to depart early in the morning or late at night, or by walking or biking aboard, passengers can lessen the likelihood of experiencing delays.
