COLLEGE STATION — The Texas A&M Aggies scored 2,700 hits in program history Wednesday night in their 9-1 win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

The Aggies (5-0) are the first Southeastern Conference school to accomplish the feat and the 12th NCAA Division I program to reach the plateau.

Will Frizzell went 2-of-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Braden Shewmake had a hit, two runs, and a stolen base, while Logan Foster went 1-of-3 with two runs, a walk, and an RBI. Texas A&M had 10 hits to Prairie View A&M’s seven.

“Our guys are trying hard and their care factor is so high, we are almost trying too hard,” said Aggies coach Rob Childress. “Once we kind of broke thought you could see the smiles on their face, and they were a lot more relaxed. The guys want to do as good as they can possibly do, and they are trying very hard for one another. You could see a lot of freedom that second half of the game from an offensive stand point.”

Chris Weber threw for 6.0 scoreless innings, fanned six, and scattered five hits to earn his first career win. Christian Roa and Kyle Richardson provided 1.0 shutout innings each along with a combined three strikeouts. The Aggies pitching staff collected another double-digit strikeout game, their fourth in the last five.

Texas A&M hosts the UIC Flames for a three-game series with game one Friday at 6:32 p.m.
