2 Canadians Arrested for DRUG TRAFFICKING After $40m in Cocaine Found in Illinois Truck

Two Canadians have been detained on drug charges after Illinois State Police confiscated more than $40 million in cocaine from a semi-trailer vehicle near the Iowa border on Friday.

According to police, around 2:10 p.m., a trooper inspected a Volvo semi-trailer on Interstate 80 in Henry County.

During the inspection, the trooper noted “numerous indicators of criminal activity,” and a search of the truck yielded 1,146 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of more than $40 million, authorities said.

Police arrested Vanshpreet Singh, 27, and Manpreet Singh, 36, both from Ontario, Canada. The two have been charged with felony counts of cocaine possession, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and trafficking.

“ISP’s coordinated focus on trafficking is helping to keep dangerous drugs out of our communities,” Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly said in a statement.

Vanshpreet Singh and Manpreet Singh were being held at the Henry County Jail while awaiting their first court appearance.
