COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — Third baseman Will Middlebrooks and left fielder Drew Stubbs scored a run apiece as the Round Rock Express outlasted the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 10-7 Monday night at Security Service Field.
Middlebrooks went 1-of-3 at the plate, including scoring a run and hitting an RBI, his 18th of the season. The Liberty-Eylau product also was walked twice and avoided striking out.
Stubbs, the former Atlanta Rabb, went 1-of-5 at the plate, including scoring a run and getting a hit. Stubbs also struck out and was not walked at all.
The Express scored seven runs in the fourth inning against the Sky Sox. RHP Clayton Blackburn went 5.2 innings and allowed seven runs on 11 hits, walking one batter, and striking out three in his fourth start for the Express in 2017. Though it was his longest start of the season for Round Rock, Blackburn had his season highs in hits and runs.
