Second suspect arrested in murder of Atlanta man

TEXARKANA, Tx. — The Texarkana Texas Police Department arrested the second suspect in the murder of Tilford Barfield III of Atlanta at Bay Wash on North Stateline Avenue Saturday night.

The TTPD arrested 29-year-old Jimmy Jerome Dancer, who turned himself in to officers at the Bi-State Criminal Justice Center Monday night.

On Saturday evening at 10:10 p.m., TTPD officers were dispatched to 4203 North Stateline Avenue with regards to a shooting victim who was non-responsive. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered 25-year-old Barfield laying on the ground with several gunshot wounds to his legs and abdomen. Barfield was transported by LifeNet EMS to Christus St. Michael where he was pronounced dead.

An altercation broke out at the car wash according to eyewitnesses. Barfield, a bystander who was observing the fight, was shot several times. Dancer and 36-year-old Lee Lewis, Jr. fled the scene in a red Chevrolet Tahoe before officers could arrive.

Lewis was arrested without incident on Sunday morning at his Magnolia Street residence. Both Dancer and Lewis are charged with Murder and are being held in the Bi-State Jail.  Lewis’ bond was set at $500,000.  A bond has not yet been set for Dancer.
