Rangers Win Rubber Match With Oakland 8-1

ARLINGTON, Texas –– Rangers (2-4) avoid a one win homestand with 8-1 win in rubber match with Oakland (3-4).

Martin Perez earns his first win of season after a disappointing season opener vs Cleveland. Perez went 5 1/3ip 6h 0er 3bb 6k and improved his ERA to 2.38. This win improves his record to 7-0 in his last 8 day game starts.

Joey Gallo and Robinson Chirinos provided the offense for Texas combining for all 8 RBIs. Gallo hit a 3 run home run to right field in 2nd inning and a 2rbi single to right in the 6th. Gallo snapped his 0-10 slump in last 10 at bats and 1-12 slump since mammoth HR on April 6th. Also his 5 RBIs are a career high.

Chirinos walked in a run in 2nd inning and hit a 2run home run to left in the 8th. This was Chirinos’ 1st home run of season in 2nd start and he increased his personal high of HRs vs Oakland to six.
