Ore City capitalizes on Queen City Bulldogs turnovers in 56-7 rout

The Queen City Bulldogs won't alter their defense in an effort to stop the New Diana Eagles' spread, hurry-up offense.

QUEEN CITY — The Ore City Rebels exploded in the third quarter with 35 unanswered points to dismantle the Queen City Bulldogs 56-7 Friday at Smith-Wall Stadium.

The Rebels tallied 307 yards to the Bulldogs’ 152 and posted 12 first downs to Queen City’s eight.

Ore City’s rushing attack gained 148 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries. The Bulldogs gained 107 yards on 43 rushes.

Rebels passers completed 12-of-21 for 159, two touchdowns, and an interception compared to the Bulldogs’ 3-of-7 for 45 yards and two interceptions.

Queen City lost six fumbles with one of them returned for a touchdown. The Bulldogs also had an interception returned the other way for six points.

Ore City improves to 3-5 overall with a 2-2 district record while Queen City is 3-4 and 0-2 in the district.
