Linden-Kildare Tigers maul Wolfe City Wolves 61-21

The Linden-Kildare Tigers are ahead in the turnover margin plus-9 after a 5-0 start with the defense forcing 14 takeaways and the offense giving up just five possessions.

LINDEN — LaDavian Johnson galloped for 239 yards on 12 carries for five touchdowns as the Linden-Kildare Tigers obliterated the undefeated Wolfe City Wolves 61-21 Friday at Jack Hetherington Tiger Stadium.

Johnson averaged 19.9 yards per carry along with a 59-yard scamper that padded his numbers. Johnson’s efforts were the basis of the Tigers’ 369 rushing yards.

Wolfe City’s Dylan Wilson ran for 94 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, the Wolves’ leading rusher. The Tigers out-gained the Wolves 466 to 409, though the Wolves managed 22 first downs to the Tigers’ 15. Wolfe City converted 5-of-7 on fourth downs to try to keep pace with Linden-Kildare.

The Tigers improve to 7-2 and 2-2 in the 2A-1 Region III District 9. Wolfe City drops to 8-1 on the year and 3-1 in the district, falling behind Rivercrest for the top spot in the district standings. The Tigers are tied with Honey Grove in the district standings.
