ATLANTA, TEXAS-KPYN radio collected over 2,000 pounds of food for Rebecca’s Pantry, a ministry of Westside Baptist Church Friday at the 5-hour Marathon for the Hungry radio remote.
The event was sponsored by Finish Line Tire and Lube, Ray Harp Diamond Jewelers, Law Office of Courtney H. Shelton, Riged Industrial Service’s and Brookshires.
“We want to thank our listeners for proving that people do care for the needy and the power of radio advertising and promotion still is the most powerful form of results driven marketing in local towns around America in the 21st century,” Robert DelGiorno , co-owner of KPYN radio said.
Robert and his wife Meghan have owned KPYN for over 12 years. The radio station will celebrate its 67th anniversary of broadcasting on Saturday.

Earlier this year KPYN hosted a radio remote that raised $5,000 cash for hurricane victims in Houston, several thousands of dollars for Cass County Child Protective Service at a radio station silent auction and the Toys for Tots fund raiser with sponsor Cass County Bank is going on now.
“Our business model is to put our community first and profit second,” DelGiorno said.
Judy Ragsdale with Rebecca’s Pantry, the beneficiary of the food drive Friday confirmed the success of the event at the conclusion of the remote broadcast. Mrs. Ragsdale said that over $1,000 was collected and 2,000 pounds of food. She said that the turnout was great and they were very happy with the event.
