ATLANTA — Jawan King’s three rushing touchdowns gave the Atlanta Rabbits the boost necessary to best the Gladewater Bears 34-16 Friday night at Rabbit Stadium.
King earned the Rushing Pest Control Player of the Game honor as he helped Atlanta gain 256 rushing yards on 46 carries.
The Rabbs got on the board with an Andrew Samples 1-yard run, his first of two in the game, to take a 7-0 lead. King would follow up with a 21-yard touchdown run to give the Rabbs a 14-0 lead before Gladewater chipped into the lead with a Fernando Serrano kick.
The Bears out-gained the Rabbs 348 to 295 in total yards, mostly due to their 10-for-20 passing yards for 141 and an interception. It was one of two takeaways Atlanta earned on the evening, the other a lost fumble, one of three the Bears committed on the evening.
Atlanta improves to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the 4A-2 Region II District 7. Gladewater drops to 2-6 on the season and 1-2 in district play.
The Rabbs hit the road one last time next Friday to face Gilmer at Jeff Traylor Stadium. Bubba Kirkland and Rick Blackwood will have the broadcast live at 7:30 p.m. with 6:30 p.m. pregame on KPYN 900 AM/95.5 FM.
