Drew Stubbs goes 3-of-5 as Express speed past Baby Cakes 5-2

METAIRIE, Louisiana — Centerfielder Drew Stubbs went 3-of-5 and went deep twice to help lead the Round Rock Express over the New Orleans Baby Cakes 5-2 Tuesday evening at the Shrine on Airline.

The former Atlanta Rabb scored three runs and drove in two RBI while only striking out once.

Former Liberty-Eylau product Will Middlebrooks went 1-of-4 at the plate, striking out three times while managing to score a run for the Express.

Starting pitcher Eddie Gamboa recorded his third consecutive quality start for Round Rock and took a no decision. The right-hander went 6.0 innings, giving up two runs (all earned) on two hits, walking four, surrendering one home run, and striking out five. Gamboa threw 110 pitches with 59 strikes. He is now 2-0 over his last three starts.

Tyler Wagner will go out on the mound for Round Rock in the 11:00 a.m. match with New Orleans.
