MCLEOD, TEXAS-Charlie Powell exploded for 19 points and the Atlanta, Rabbits boys basketball team downed the McLeod Longhorns 61-55 in the championship game of the McLeod tournament.
Daimion pitched in with 13 points and Hunter Allen scored eleven for the Rabbits who won the Longhorn tournament for the first time in 5-years. The win could be a sign of big things to come for the Rabbs who are coached b y Jarrod Boston. The Rabbits were picked by Dave Campbell’s Texas magazine to finish first in their district.
Trevor Deel scored 18 points to lead the runner-up McLeod Longhorns. Casey Smith scored 17 for McLeod.
The Rabbits will play their first district game Tuesday at Paul Pewitt and they’ll play another district game home Friday against Hooks.

Queen City finished third in the tournament
The Queen City Bulldogs finished third in the McLeod tournament. The Bulldogs defeated De Kalb in the consolation game 54-46. Tyler Nolen led the Dogs with 15 points while Colton Davis added thirteen.
The Bulldogs open district Tuesday night at home.
