AAA Texas: Gas Price Averages Increase In Almost Every Texas Market Surveyed

Pump Price

(Coppell, TX) – The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.08 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is three cents more than last week and is five cents more per gallon compared to this day last year.

Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Dallas are paying the most on average per gallon at $2.19, while drivers in San Antonio are paying the least at $1.99 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.27, which is one cent more than last week and eight cents higher than the price per gallon at this same time last year.

“In spite of industry predictions to the contrary, overall gas prices this summer are cheaper than at the beginning of the year,” said AAA Texas/AAA New Mexico Representative Daniel Armbruster. “Analysts say slight price increases remain possible throughout the summer season. After last week’s strong finish, West Texas Intermediate appears poised to continue making gains – opening above $47 per barrel today. The market has been trending upward slightly after recent reports showed crude oil inventories dropped. Analysts say if demand stays on pace and wholesale crude oil prices increase, consumers will likely see gas prices trend higher  through the end of the summer.
