The CHRISTUS St. Michael Atlanta Foundation held its 20th Annual Turkey Trot 5k Saturday, November 18.  The race started at the new CHRISTUS St. Michael Atlanta Outpatient Rehabilitation Center located at 901 S. William St.  Over 80 eager turkey trotters completed the 3.1 mile course, making this historically the best turnout for the event. Turner Pool was the first to cross the finish line, with a time of 17:39.  Finishing 2nd for the men was Will Allen, 19:57 and 3rd was Ashten Waddill, 21:26. Erin Jackson finished in 1st place for the ladies with a time of 26:13.  2nd place went to Kayla Mills, 27:27 and 3rd to Sonji Harris, 28:10.  Penny Lynn was the top walker with a time of 42:03.

1st Annual Community Thanksgiving Feast

At the completion of the 5k, participants and fans moved next door to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta to enjoy the 1st Annual Community Thanksgiving Feast.  13 turkeys and 16 pumpkin pies were donated by local businesses and individuals for the cook-off.  Kevin Farmer with Tong Brothers Auto won Best Turkey and Renee Bynum won Best Pumpkin Pie.  Holli Bennefield ushered the crowd into the holiday spirit with her enchanting vocal talents.  Amid the hustle and bustle of songs, games and awards, the crowd enjoyed a marvelous Thanksgiving Feast, complete with turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans and pie.
